Kick hubby out of PKR, Ezam tells Wan Azizah

Kick hubby out of PKR, Ezam tells Wan Azizah.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former PKR Youth chief Ezam Mohd Nor has challenged party president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to kick her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim out of the party.

He also called on Anwar to stop hiding behind Wan Azizah’s skirt.

Ezam said it was high time Wan Azizah made a choice, as she should not serve the interest of her husband at the expense of the party as Anwar is facing sodomy charges.

“Azizah should resign as president if she does not have the heart to sack her husband from the party,’’ he said yesterday.

Ezam was commenting on Port Klang assemblyman Badrul Hisham Abdullah’s decision to quit PKR on moral grounds.

Ezam said Wan Azizah should support Badrul’s decision to quit if she is consistent in upholding the principle of morality.

“As a wife, Wan Azizah has a responsibility to her husband, and she cannot possibly tell all to the public.

“But Wan Azizah should remember that she also has a responsibility to the party and its members,

“If there is conflict of interest, Wan Azizah should just resign,’’ he said.

Badrul, when announcing his decision to quit PKR on Thursday, said Wan Azizah knew what was happening in the party and asked why she had been evasive.

He also said Wan Azizah was willing to cover up her husband’s weaknesses for the sake of her family but at the expense of the party and the rakyat.

He said as a PKR member and an elected representative, he had a right to ask for the party president’s explanation on the matter.

Wan Azizah’s failure in fulfilling her duties and in addressing the serious moral problems affecting the party, was the main reason he quit, Badrul claimed.

BERNAMA – Poligami Tidak Selesaikan Masalah Ibu Tunggal – Wanita MCA

BERNAMA – Poligami Tidak Selesaikan Masalah Ibu Tunggal – Wanita MCA.

CUEPACS BONUS HOPES DASHED

The recent budget may have brought cheers to many but sadly, it was a big blow for the civil servants and especially to the Congress of Union of Employees in the Public And Civil Services.
The Cuepacs president has been assuring civil servants time and again that the government has indicated positively to its request for a bonus payment.
Many civil servants were utterly disappointed when there was no announcement of a bonus.
The Cuepecs president should not mislead the civil servants with all kinds of promises and false hopes just to gain popularity among the civil servants.
Cuepacs ought to be realistic and pragmatic in its approach, especially in issuing press statements on the bonus payment.
When the government has not agreed to a bonus payment, why give false hopes to the civil servants?
Cuepacs should realise that it is not fair to expect much from the government due to the global economic slowdown, which has affected the country’s economic performance greatly. It should instead focus its efforts to create awareness among the civil servants of the need to really improve their productivity and not to expecttoo much handouts from the government during these difficult times.
The token allowance of RM500 for civil servants, announced by the Prime Minister in his maiden Budget speech, has somewhat came handy for those in the lower salary brackets.
However, there are others who view it as pittance. Many are wondering how government-linked agencies could pay hefty bonuses to their staff during these difficult times.
Anyway, it was Cuepacs that raised the hopes of these civil servants to a point of saying that the government has somewhat agreed to give the two-month bonus.
Cuepacs has a lot of explanation to do to the civil servants for misleading them.
Perhaps it is time for the present Cuepacs president to pass the leadership baton to someone else , for he is sounding more like a politician than a trade union leader.

KUALA LUMPUR 28 Okt.

Muhyiddin supports single stream in schools

Published: Thursday October 29, 2009 MYT 1:59:00 PM
Updated: Thursday October 29, 2009 MYT 2:00:22 PM

KOTA TINGGI: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin personally supports the call for single stream schools to promote unity and the 1Malaysia concept.

He, however, said the issue required feedback from many quarters before it can be implemented.

Muhyiddin was commenting on the issue that was brought up in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday.

Bernama had reported Hamim Samuri (BN-Ledang) urging the Government to restructure the education system including introducing single stream schools to achieve racial unity.

He had said that the current multi-stream schooling system did not help people understand the meaning of unity or the 1Malaysia concept promoted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

He had added that the present system should be restructured where all secondary schools would be in a single stream, thus placing all races under one roof.

“The multi-stream schools can be retained at the primary level. The Government can take over and upgrade the secondary schools,” he said when debating the Supply Bill 2010 here Wednesday.

Datuk Ab Halim Ab Rahman (PAS-Pengkalan Chepa) agreed, saying that a study showed that the present education system had no objectives for the well-being of the people.

Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) also agreed that all multi-stream schools be united into a single stream at secondary level so that racial unity could be achieved.

He said the single stream schooling system had been mooted by historian and academician Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Khoo Kay Kim.

MIC, MCA tak setuju sistem pendidikan satu aliran

– Bernama

Awards for reps who take single mums as 2nd wives!

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Women, Family and Health committee chairman Wan Ubaidah Omar suggested that awards be given to assemblymen for marrying single mothers should they decide to take another wife.

Her suggestion drew support from backbenchers — all of them men — who started thumping their palms on the table at the Kelantan State Assembly on Wednesday.

She said the assemblymen could increase their quota to help single mothers with young children and it would help greatly if the assemblymen assisted by marrying them.

Her statement prompted house speaker Nassuruddin Daud to ask Wan Ubaidah to explain the word “quota.”

“What I meant by quota is the number of wives; awards should be given to learned House members who take the lead in doing this and also for those who have already married single mothers.

“This would help to reduce the number of single mothers in the state,” she said in reply to a question by Hassan Mahmood (PAS-Tawang), who had asked what was being done to reduce the number of divorce cases and what efforts were being taken by the state government to help single mothers.

To a supplementary question, Wan Ubaidah said that based on state records, there were 16,500-registered single mothers below the age of 60 in Kelantan and this figure did not include those who had been left in the lurch by their husbands.

She said one dilemma facing some single mothers in Kelantan and the country as a whole was that many of them could not register at the Welfare Department or related agencies because their husbands had left them without filing for divorce.

She said that she agreed with the call by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Nik Mat to whip irresponsible husbands who left their wives high and dry without any reason.

She said Kelantan spent RM2mil annually to look after the welfare of single mothers who had no source of income.

“Apart from that, we have organised entrepreneurial workshops to help single mothers earn a living.

“The government has also organised talks to educate the immediate families of single mothers to take the initiative to help and not leave them alone to fend for themselves.

“We have had similar educational talks for husbands who had divorced their wives to encourage them to pay alimony to help their ex-wives get on with their lives,” she added.

KUALA LUMPUR: Tiada kematian dicatatkan akibat Influenza A(H1N1) sepanjang minggu lalu menjadikan jumlah kematian akibat virus tersebut kekal 77 orang.

– Bernama
